Saints Triumph over Judson Eagles

ELGIN, ILL. -- The Siena Heights men's soccer team earned their second win on the season as they came out on top with a score of 3-2 over Judson (Ill.). Gustavo Barros (Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul) recorded three shots, two of which made it in goal to help secure SHU the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Eagles were able to put themselves on the board first when Alban Hoti scored on an assist from Frenando Nava in the 43rd minute of play. The Saints persevered and were able to tie the game when Barros scored unassisted in the 44th minute of play. SHU kept the momentum going as Barros quckily scored on an assist from Caleb Crawford (Amherst, New York) at the end of the 44th minute of play. The Saints edged the The Eagles 10 to nine in shots on the period.

The majority of the second half remaind stagnent until Juson found an opportunity to put themselves of the board when Rafael Rocha scored unassited in the 84th minute of play to push the game to another tie. SHU wasn't finshed yet as Justin Gray (Fraser, Mich.) scored on an assist from Brayden Stephan (Highland, Mich.) in the 86th minute of play. The Eagles were unable to capatalize on any other oppourtinities securing the Saints a victory.

TOP SAINTS

• Gray led the Saints with four shots, two which were on goal and one making it in goal in an effort to put them on the board.

• Barros recorded three shots, two which made it in goal to lead the Saints to a victory.

• Stephan and Crawford each added an assist to their stats.

Andrew Kozan (W, 2-0) saved five of the seven shots on goal he faced between the pipes for SHU.

THE OPPOSING

• Rocha recorded three shots, one of which made it in goal in effort to put Judon on the board.

• Hoti lone shot on the game made it in goal adding to the Eagles score.

• Luis Germano led Judson with four shots, one which was on goal.

• Jacob Collins (L, 1-2) saved five of the eight shots he faced on goal in 90 minutes of play for the Eagles.

UP NEXT

The Saints travel to face Saint Francis (Ind.) this Wednesday, September 4th. The game is scheduled to kick off at 7:00 p.m. EDT
