Siena Heights athletic director Sue Syljebeck has announced the hire of Nito Ramos as head coach of the Saints' men's and women's golf programs. Ramos, a 1995 SHU alum, joins the Saints after a 30-year teaching and coaching career in Lenawee County.
"We are thrilled to have a golf coach of Nito's experience and high character," Syljebeck siad. "His connections with recruiting in Michigan high schools will help tremendously."
Ramos graduated from Siena Heights with a degree in elementary education. While on campus, he was a resident assistant and a student ambassador. He parlayed his experience as a Saint into a teaching career, beginning in Adrian Public Schools (1995-98) and continuing in Clinton Community Schools (1999-2025).
At the high-school level, he has coached several sports, including football, boys and girls basketball, baseball, softball and, most importantly, boys and girls golf.
Ramos is a four-time Lenawee County Coach of the Year, having earned that title twice as the Clinton girls golf coach, once as the Clinton boys golf coach and once as the Clinton girls basketball coach. Ramos has been a coach for teams from both Clinton and Sand Creek.
Under Ramos, the Clinton boys and girls programs had state-level success. He was the boys' coach in 2016-24, taking them to four MHSAA tournaments. The girls have qualified for States twice after Ramos began the program in 2021.
"What a great opportunity to come back to be a mentor and a coach at my alma mater," Ramos said. "I'm excited to be back here."
