
Siena Heights defensive back Shamar Askin was named to the All-MSFA Mideast League First Team, as announced by the league on Monday, leading a group of eight Saints to be recognized by the Mid-States Football Association.
The other All-MSFA Mideast honorees include four Second Team performers: wide receiver Tendaji Alexander, offensive lineman Walter Baughman V and linebackers Tanner Rubinstein and Clarke Hamilton; and three Honorable Mentions: defensive lineman George Talley III, running back Brendan Haisenleder and defensive back Jack Fitzgerald.
Askin, a redshirt-junior, is now a two-time All-MSFA Mideast First Team player. He was previously honored in 2023. During the 2024 season, he tied for the team lead with three interceptions. Askin also had 23 tackls and one forced fumble.
Alexander, a redshirt-sophomore, led the Saints' receiving game with team-highs of 41 catches and 555 yards. He made three touchdown catches.
Baughman, a senior, earned his second consecutive Second Team accolade for his play on the line, having earned the same honor in 2023.
Rubinstein, a redshirt-sophomore, led SHU in total tackles with 78 and ranked second on the squad in tackles-for-loss with 5 1/2. He also had a sack.
Hamilton, a redshirt-junior, was the team leader in TFLs with 12 and was second on the team with 75 tackles. He also had a sack, forced fumble and fumble recovery. Hamilton is now a two-time All-MSFA Second Team player.
Haisenleder was the Saints' leading rusher in his redshirt-freshman season, finishing with 225 yards for 1,061 yards and six touchdowns. He also had 17 receptions for 107 yards.
Fitzgerald, a redshirt-senior, tied for the team lead in interceptinos with three. He also had 26 tackles, 2 1/2 tackles-for-loss, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
Talley, a redshirt-senior, finished with 28 tackles, including four TFLs. He had 1 1/2 sacks.
