
ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights football team fell in its Homecoming game to Saint Francis (Ill.), 31-24, on Saturday at O'Laughlin Stadium.
Quarterback Elijah Taylor had a pair of touchdown passes, completing 26 of 36 throws for 280 yards. His top receiver was Tendaji Alexander, who made nine grabs for 130 yards.
Wide-outs Bailey Jackson and Chris Coleman had touchdown receptions. Jackson finished with five catches for 57 yards and Coleman totaled four for 47.
Running back Brendan Haisenleder also had a touchdown on his 22 carries for 49 yards.
For the SHU defense, linebacker Jack Howey had eight tackles and fellow LB Tanner Rubinstein compiled seven tackles, including a sack.
Defensive lineman George Talley and linebacker Joshua Mack recorded half-sacks.
Haisenleder scored on an 11-yard touchdown run in the second quarter, helping SHU close a 14-point deficit to 14-7 before halftime.
The Saints trailed 24-7 heading into the fourth before pulling into a one-score game. Carter Ball made a 24-yard field goal and Jackson scored on a 4-yard TD reception.
An onside kick with 2:03 left was returned for a TD by Saint Francis, giving the visitors a 31-17 lead.
Coleman made a 12-yard TD catch with 42 seconds remaining before another SHU onside kick was recovered by Saint Francis.
Siena Heights (1-5) will return to play on Saturday, Oct. 19, at MSFA Mideast opponent Lawrence Tech.
