Football Suffers Heartbreaker in OT Loss to ONU

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights football team lost to Olivet Nazarene, 20-14, in overtime during MSFA interdivisional competition on Saturday at O'Laughlin Stadium.

The Saints (0-3) had come back from a 14-0 deficit to tie the contest at 14-all with 2:30 left in the fourth quarter. SHU had possession first in OT, but a fumble return went the other way for ONU with the decisive six points.

Running back Brendan Haisenleder led he Siena Heights offense with 22 carries for 122 yards.

Quarterback Elijah Taylor scored both SHU touchdowns on 1-yard dive plays. He connected with wide-out Credell Prather on the game-tying, two-point conversion.

Prather finished with five receptions for 47 yards. Bailey Jackson had three catches for 50 and Tendaji Alexander had three for 36.

Punter Isaac Roop had a solid day with five for an average of 43.2 yards, including one inside the 20.

On defense, George Talley III, A.J. Knox and Joshua Mack had sacks. Greg Predina and Xavier Hall were credited with half-sacks.

Tanner Rubenstein was SHU's leading tackler with 15 stops. Talley and Hamilton had eight each; Hamilton had 3 1/2 TFLs.

Mack also had an interception on defense.

The Saints will play next on Saturday, Sept. 21, when they visit Saint Francis (Ind.) for a non-conference game.
