Baseball Downed at Cleary

HOWELL, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team dropped both double-header games against Cleary on Sunday. In game one the Saints fell 4-0 and lost the second game 9-6. 

The Saints will return to action on Wednesday, April 2, at Rochester Christian in a WHAC double-header at 1 & 4 p.m. EDT. 

Game One: Cleary 4, Siena Heights 0 

Shilo Bernal Jr. worked five innings and was charged with four earned runs off nine hits while striking out two batters. Tim Polidor came in for relief working one scoreless frame and forcing three strikeouts. 

Cleary scored one run in the first and third innings each before scoring two more in the fifth to win game one. 

Game Two: Cleary 9, Siena Heights 6 

Aidan Grinstead led SHU at the plate going 2-for-5. Devin Eads and Braxton Mustiful both added one hit and one RBI. 

Benjamin Weadock got the start on the hill and worked five innings. Weadock allowed two earned runs off seven hits while forcing three strikeouts. Christian Smolen came in working just over two innings striking out two batters. 

SHU remained scoreless after six innings trailing 9-0. In the seventh, Mustiful hit an RBI single to get the scoring started for the Saints, as they were able to plate two more with unearned runs from Mac Melvin and Mustiful to make it 9-3. 

In the ninth, the Saints closed the gap with runs from Eric Reiling and Landon DeVaney to make it 9-5. Eads then recorded an RBI to make it 9-6, but the rally fell short after a flyout the very next at-bat.
