Baseball Drops Pair to Concordia

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team dropped a pair of games to Concordia on Wednesday. SHU dropped game one 9-8 before falling in the second game 14-5. 

The Saints will return to action on Saturday, March 29, at home vs Michigan-Dearborn in a WHAC double-header. 

Game One: Concordia 9, Siena Heights 8 

Kaleb Woods led the SHU offense going 2-for-5 with two RBIs. 

Concordia scored runs in the first and the third to get out to a 5-0 lead. SHU then responded to get on the board with an RBI Single. In the fourth, Concordia scored two more runs to make it 7-1. Devin Eads then tallied an RBI double in the fifth before Concordia responded in the sixth with a home run taking a 9-2 lead. 

In the sixth, SHU got right back into the game after an error by Concordia to get the spurt started making it 9-3. Kaleb Woods had a two-RBI double followed by Caden Gomes hitting a two-RBI single to make it 9-7. Brock Olmstead then recorded a sacrifice fly to pull SHU to within one at 9-8. In the bottom of the seventh, the Saints had two on base before flying out, falling short of their comeback efforts. 

Game Two: Concordia 14, Siena Heights 5 

Offensively, Aidan Grinstead went 1-for-3 with two RBIs to lead SHU at the plate. 

Concordia scored four runs in the first until the Saints roared back with five runs of their own. Aidan Grinstead started SHU off with a two-RBI triple followed by Eddie Ramos recording an RBI single. With the bases loaded, Mil Ramsey and Kaleb Woods were both hit by pitches both tallying RBIs to make it 5-4 SHU after the first inning. 

After a few scoreless innings, Concordia took the lead back in the fourth after scoring on a passed ball and hitting an RBI double to take a 6-5 lead. In the fifth, Concordia scored on a sacrifice bunt to then explode in the seventh inning with seven runs to put the game away.
