Baseball Sweeps Trine as Kolasinski Becomes All-Time Winningest Coach in Program History

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team defeated Trine twice in a non-conference double-header on Sunday. After the sweep, head coach John Kolasinski has now won 319 career games becoming the all-time winningest coach in program history. 

The Saints will return to action on Wednesday, March 26, vs Concordia in a non-conference double-header at The Siena Heights Baseball Stadium. 

Game One: Siena Heights 8, Trine 3 

Devin Eads started the day with an RBI single as SHU led 1-0 after the first inning. Trine then tied the game with one run in the second to tie the game at one. In the third, the Saints grabbed the lead back after Caden Gomes recorded an RBI to make it 2-1. 

The Saints blew the game open with a six-run fourth inning after a two-RBI single from Jimmy Haranczak. Caden Gomes then followed it up with a two-RBI single to make it 6-1 and to finish the inning, Jack Semler tallied a two-RBI double to make it 8-1. Trine scored two more runs in the sixth but was not enough to catch up to SHU. 

Chase Molnar started on the hill and went the distance allowing one earned run off four hits while forcing seven strikeouts. 

Game Two: Siena Heights 7, Trine 1 

Devin Eads, Aidan Grinstead, and Landon DeVaney all went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead SHU offensively. 

Trine took the first lead of the game 1-0 in the second inning until Justin Holton tallied an RBI to tie the game at the bottom of the second. The Saints pulled away after a six-run third inning. Grinstead and Landon DeVaney both recorded RBI singles to grab the Saints the lead for good as they were ahead 3-1. Gino Hutchinson continued the explosive inning with a two-RBI single and Kaleb Woods put the final tally marks of the contest with a two-RBI double. 

Garret Smith went the distance on the mound allowing five hits and striking out eight batters.
