
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The Siena Heights baseball team fell twice to Concordia on Wednesday. In game one, the Saints came up short 3-1 and fell in the second game 13-3.
The Saints will return to action on Friday, March 21, at Rochester Christian at 1 & 4 p.m. EDT in WHAC conference action.
Game One: Concordia 3, Siena Heights 1
Jimmy Haranczak and Justin Holton recorded hits for SHU with one each while Mac Melvin tallied one RBI.
On the mound, Shilo Bernal Jr. got the start and worked 4.2 innings surrendering three runs off five hits while walking two batters and forcing two strikeouts. Guy Young then came in for relief working one scoreless frame.
Concordia took the lead first 1-0 until Mac Melvin tied the game at 1-1 when he recorded an RBI. Concordia then ended the game with one home run in the fourth and fifth innings each.
Game Two: Concordia 13, Siena Heights 3
Devin Eads led SHU offensively going 2-for-3 at the plate. Gino Hutchinson went 1-for-3 with one RBI while Joe Smith, Caden Gomes, and Kaleb Woods added one hit each.
On the hill, Tim Polidor led the SHU pitching staff with three strikeouts.
Concordia started hot with six runs in the first inning. In the second, Gino Hutchinson recorded an RBI single to get SHU on the board, but Concordia then responded with two more runs in the fourth to make it 8-1. Aidan Grinstead then walked tallying an RBI. In the next at-bat, Concordia ripped off four more runs to fend off the Saints. Vinny Smith got one more run in for SHU as he hit a sacrifice fly to make it 12-3, then Concordia scored once more in the sixth off a walk.
