Baseball Drops Pair at Lourdes

SYLVANIA, Ohio -- The Siena Heights baseball team was back in double-header action as they were on the road at Lourdes. The Saints fell to Lourdes in both games. In game one, Lourdes won 4-3, and in game two, Lourdes won 10-0. The Saints will be back in action on Sunday, April 14th, when they face the Madonna Crusaders at 1&4 pm at home, in double-header action. 

 

Game one: Lourdes 4, Siena Heights 3 

Leading the Saints at-bat was Catcher Brock Olmstead, as he recorded two hits going 2-for-3 at the plate. 

In game one, the Saints found themselves down 1-0 until the top of the fourth inning, when Kenny Layman hit a sacrafice fly out to right field to send Adam Wilding home to tie the game at one. In the bottom of the fourth, Lourdes then scored three unanswered runs to go up 4-1. In the top of the sixth, Kenny Layman hit a single RBI to left field to allow Gino Hutchinson to score to pull the Saints within two at 4-2. Later in the at-bat, Thomas Bakoway singled to center field sending Kenny Layman home, however the comeback effort fell short in game one, as the Saints fell 4-3. 

On the mound in game one, Chase Molnar faced 31 batters forcing eight strikeouts. 

 

Game Two: Lourdes 10, Siena Heights 0 

At-bat, the Saints were led by Catcher Aidan Grinstead, recording one hit going 1-for-2 at the plate. Cole VanWasshenova and Thomas Bakoway also recorded one hit each in game two, as they each went 1-for-3 batting. 

On the mound, Kenny Layman faced 23 batters forcing two strikeouts.
