The following was printed on Brett Steele's HOF
plaque:
On the 20th anniversary of his graduation from Siena
Heights College, the SHU Hall of Fame posthumously inducts pitcher
Brett Steele, the ace of the Saints’ staff for three years in
the early to mid-1980s. In 1984, he had his best season for
the Saints with five victories, six saves, a team-high 51
strikeouts, and a 2.22 earned run average. Steele’s
1984 statistics still rate among the top 10 all-time in SHU
single-season baseball archives.
Teammates who played alongside Steele at Siena Heights remember
him as a hard-throwing righthander with a wicked split-finger
pitch. A tenacious competitor, he’s even more revered
and remembered as a fun-loving friend and solid teammate.
