The following was printed on Jeff Gullekson's HOF
plaque:
Ten years after his final game in a Siena Heights University
jersey Jeff Gullekson remains the single-game, single-season and
career rebounding leader in Saints’ basketball history.
“Gully” is one of only two Siena Heights basketball
players to score over 1,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds in his
career.
Gullekson set the single-game (31) and single-season (509)
school record in his senior season (2000-01). The
Saints’ power forward earned NAIA All-American
(2nd-Team) recognition; All-WHAC Conference and All-WHAC
Defensive Team honors; and was named the Saints’ Most
Valuable Player in 2001.
During the Saints’ semi-final run in the 2000 NAIA
Division II National Championship Tournament, Gullekson averaged
11.5 rebounds in four games and was the tournament’s top
rebounder. The Saints qualified for the NAIA National
Tournament in each of Gullekson’s four years and had an
overall record of 117-30.
An outstanding student and leader, Gullekson was the 2000 Thomas
Emmet Sr. Award winner as the school’s top male
student-athlete. He earned All-WHAC Academic Team and NAIA
Scholar-Athlete honors in both his junior and senior years.
Gullekson culminated his phenomenal athletic and academic career at
Siena Heights by being named the Siena Heights University Student
of the Year and the Business Department Student of the
Year.
