BOWLING GREEN, Ohio -- Elaine Johnson placed 22nd individually as the top finisher for the Siena Heights women's cross country team as the Saints opened their season at the Bowling Green State (Ohio) Mel Brodt Invitational on Friday.

Johnson navigated the 5-kilometer course in 19:19.2. Ashley Russo took 26th in 19:53.4 and Lucia Alfaro was 28th in 20:03.6.

The Saints were the only NAIA team in a field consisting of NCAA Division I schools. Team scores were not recorded.
