ADRIAN, Mich. -- Aubrey Bates broke the school record for career assists as the Siena Heights women's volleyball team earned a 3-1 WHAC Tournament quarterfinal victory over Lawrence Tech on Wednesday at the SHU Fieldhouse. Set scores, in favor of SHU, were 25-18, 25-21, 24-26, 25-11.

Bates had 50 assists in the win, reaching 3,751 for her collegiate career. She surpassed Carly Tillotson, who held the previous mark with 3,710 in 2012-15.

On the night, Bates also had 24 digs, five kills and two aces. Kinsey Wagner added 16 kills and five blocks while Devyne Eisenhauer finished with 14 kills and three aces.

Also for the Saints (24-7), Cailynn Sullivan had 10 kills, Payton Osborne made 20 digs, Jessica Holsapple totaled 14 digs and Taylor Schram finished with 12 digs. Claire VanDyke and Holsapple smashed four and three aces, respectively.

Siena Heights came from behind in each of the first two sets. It trailed 15-14 before an 11-3 SHU run put the Saints ahead for good in the first. Bates had five assists and one block in a decisive 9-1 run. Wagner and Eisenhauer had two kills each in that stretch while VanDyke had two aces.

In the second, SHU answered a 8-1 deficit with an 18-4 stretch before closing on a 2-0 lead.

The Saints held match point at 24-22 in the third, but the visiting Blue Devils (12-13) answered with four consecutive points to lengthen the match. SHU then dominated the fourth, getting a pair of 5-0 runs and one 7-0 streak in the set.

With the win, SHU advances to the WHAC semifinals and will take on Aquinas on Friday at host Indiana Tech. The WHAC final is scheduled for Saturday at Indiana Tech.
