#RV Women's Volleyball Splits on Final Day in Florida

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The Siena Heights women's volleyball team split its second day of competition on Saturday at the Keiser Invitational. The Saints defeated Campbellsville (Ky.), 3-0, and lost to Saint Thomas (Fla.), 3-1.

SHU will return to action on Wednesday, Aug. 30, with a 7 p.m. contest at Huntington (Ind.).

Saints 3, Campbellsville 0
Set scores: SHU 25-20, 25-18, 25-15

Taylor Wegener led SHU with 11 kills and 11 digs while Olivia Norman, Kinsey Wagner and Cailynn Sullivan contributed seven kills apiece. Aubrey Bates made 32 assists.

Payton Osborne added 10 digs and Norman finished with four blocks. Taylor Schram smashed three aces.

The Saints overcame a tough start and answered a five-point deficit in the opening set, finishing with a 9-2 stretch.

SHU broke a 16-all tie in the second set with six straight points and led the rest of the way after that. Kadie Carsten had two kills and two assists in that run.

A pair of five-point runs helped Siena Heights control the third.

Set scores: STU 25-13, 22-25, 25-22, 25-10

Wegener had 14 kills and Bates dished 33 assists as SHU suffered its first loss of 2023.

Norman put down eight kills and Osborne led the defense with 25 digs. Jessica Holsapple added 12 digs.

At the net, Bates totaled five blocks while Norman and Kinsey Wagner totaled four apiece.

Siena Heights evened the match score at 1-1 in the second after falling behind in the set, 5-0. SHU finished the set strong with a 12-5 run; Norman planted four kills and Bates had six assists during said stretch.

STU returned the favor with a similar fashion in the third, overcoming a 17-12 Siena Heights edge to take a 2-1 match lead. Saint Thomas continued its momentum to clinch in the fourth.
