#RV Women's Volleyball Takes Two on Day One of Keiser Invite

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. -- The Siena Heights women's volleyball team opened its 2023 season with a pair of sweeps on Friday at the Keiser Invitational. The Saints took 3-0 victories over Life (Ga.) and Rust (Miss.).

The Saints will play two more matches in the Sunshine State, taking on Campbellsville (Ky.) and Saint Thomas (Fla.) on Saturday morning.

Saints 3, Life 0
(Set scores: SHU 25-20, SHU 25-20, SHU 25-23)

Olivia Norman led the way with 12 kills and five blocks in SHU's season-opener. Taylor Wegener added seven kills and seven digs while Aubrey Bates made 25 assists.

Bates added three blocks and Jessica Holsapple hammered four aces.

Siena Heights trailed 10-6 in the first set before chipping away at its deficit, eventually closing the set with a six-point run. Holsapple had three of her aces in that stretch.

The Saints scored the final two points of the second set to hold off a late Life rally. They faced a 19-14 deficit in the third before charging back with an 11-4 match-ending run.

(Set scores: SHU 25-16, 25-10, 25-16)

Cailynn Sullivan and Isabelle Kirkendall put down nine kills apiece as SHU finished its first day of action.

Kadie Carsten added seven kills while Lyndsey Benschoter totaled 20 assists. Bates added 16 helpers and three aces.

Wegener and Payton Osborne led the way in digs with 10 apiece.

The Saints closed the opening set with a 7-0 run and continued that momentum into the second with a 7-1 stretch. SHU finished out the match with another streak, taking a 7-2 run.
