Saints End Remarkable Season After Heartbreaking Semifinal Defeat

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Siena Heights women's volleyball team ended their incredible season in a heartbreaking loss to Indiana Tech in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference Semifinal match, Friday night. The Saints were 24-8 overall with a conference record of 18-2 and held two nine-game winning streaks during the season. SHU fell 1-3 to the Warriors after a hard-fought battle.

Kinsey Wagner led SHU with 12 kills, three digs, and four blocks. As Taylor Wegener tallied 10 kills, four digs, and two blocks. Olivia Norman earned four blocks and eight kills during the match. As Devyne Eisenhauer collected seven kills, two aces, 17 digs, and two blocks. Libero Payton Osborne picked up 31 digs and one ace. While setter Aubrey Bates totaled 44 assists, 10 digs, and one block.

The four-set slugger began with a SHU win 25-21. The Saints held a .196 hitting percentage putting down 14 kills in the first set. Siena had a strong presence from behind the service line, going on multiple three-point runs. Set two is when the battle began as the teams traded points and lead through the match. Indiana Tech would make separation that SHU could not overcome to steal set two and tie the game.

Set three got away from the Saints and allowed the Warriors to go up 1-2. The final set saw an early lead go to InTech, making an obstacle just too large to overcome for Siena Heights. The Match ended 1-3 in favor of the Warriors.
