Saints Fend Off Cardinals in 3-1 Victory

Ann Arbor, Mich.– The Siena Heights women's volleyball team traveled North to compete in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup against the Concordia (MI) Cardinals. The Saints walked away with a 3-1 win while totaling 53 kills, 51 assists, 24 blocks, and 99 digs. During the match Junior Setter Aubrey Bates reached 2,500 career assists, earning her second in the SHU volleyball archives for most career assists. Siena is now 13-2 in WHAC play and 18-7 overall.

Reaching her career and seasonal best was Freshman Devyne Eisenhauer who totaled 20 kills during the four-set match. Eisenhauer also earned three aces, 20 digs, and two blocks. Taylor Wegener collected 10 kills during the match while picking up four digs and three blocks. Claire VanDyke tallied 14 digs as Libero Payton Osborne totaled 34 digs a season-high and four assists. Bates earned counted 46 assists, nine digs, four blocks, and four kills. Senior Karsyn Wolf picked up 10 digs in the Siena Heights victory.

After a rocky first set that resulted in a Cardinal win, SHU adapted and went into set two with a newfound fire. Quickly jumping into a lead Siena worked hard offensively to put the ball away. Tying up the game at 1-1 the Saints continued their push into set three where they once again dominated from behind the service line allowing Bates to run the SHU offense at max capacity. Now up two sets to one Siena Heights made one last push in the fourth, shutting out the Cardinals 25-18, to take the match.
