Saints Steal a Set Against #23 Cornerstone

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Siena Heights women's volleyball team traveled North to Grand Rapids, Michigan for the weekend. Facing the 23rd team in the national, Cornerstone University in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference matchup. The Saints took set one 25-23 but ultimately fell in a 1-3 defeat to the Golden Eagles. 

Kinsey Wagner led for Siena tallying 12 kills, one dig, and six blocks. Olivia Norman also collected 12 kills and held three blocks. Devyne Eisenhauer boasted 11 kills, one ace, 16 digs, and two blocks. While setter Aubrey Bates earned 44 assists, 10 digs, and three kills. Liberio Payton Osborne made three assists and picked up 12 digs.

The first set started with a Cornerstone lead until a huge service run from Osborne brought the Saints back to tie the game 9-9. The set continued seeing four more ties until the score was 23-23. Major kills from Wagner and Eisenhauer sealed the victory for the SHU.

Set two started similarly, however this time the Saints were unable to overcome the initial point difference. 

Not to be detoured Siena fought back in sets three and four battling for control with the Golden Eagles. SHU continued to fight, earning big points from a hard-fought team effort. Siena would, unfortunately, fall short against the nationally ranked Golden Eagles, bringing their conference record to 2-1.
