Adrian, Mich. - The Siena Heights women's volleyball team competed on day one of the 2022 SHU Volleyball tournament at home in the Fieldhouse. Facing Cardinal Stritch in game one the Saints clinched a victory in four sets to win 3-1. In game two, Siena took on Thomas More and fell one set to three. Splitting 1-1 on the day and leaving their overall record at 3-4.
Game 1: SHU, 3 vs. Cardinal Stritch, 2
Olivia Norman led SHU, holding 14 kills, three digs, and two blocks. Both Devyne Eisenhauer and Kinsey Wagner brought down 12 kills and a combined effort of 13 digs. Libero Payton Osborne held the highest number of digs with 27 along with four assists and three aces. Setter Aubrey Bates collected 46 assists, four aces, and four kills.
Fighting for control in set one Siena stumbled near the 14-point mark allowing the Wolves to take the first. With a strong comeback in the second SHU claimed their first victory for the day thanks to a long service run from Osborne. Hanging in there Stritch took set three to lead the match 2-1. However, Siena put the pedal to the floorboard, driving home to win sets four and five. With long service runs and big kills to be victorious.
Game 2: SHU, 1 vs. Thomas More, 3
Olivia Norman led in match two tallying 11 kills, four digs, and three blocks. Devyne Eisenhauer reached double digits with 10 kills, 17 digs, and one ace. Aubrey Bates racked up 40 assists during the match while collecting two kills, 11 digs, and four blocks. Coming out strong SHU took set one 25-22, after coming back from a deficit. The Saints took the lead later in the game and did not look back as Lila Splavec, Kadie Carsten, and Eisenhauer brought down kills.
Unfortunately, the Saints lost in a close set 23-25, surrendering their lead. Unable to refind their footing, SHU dropped the next two sets to end the match.
