Women's Volleyball Battles in Two Five-Set Defeats on Day Two of Onset Invitational

Fort Wayne, Indiana -  Finishing day two of the Onset Invitational the Siena Heights Women's Volleyball team went 0-2, leaving Indiana with a record of 1-3. Both matches went on for five sets making it a long day for the Saints. SHU battled trading every other set with their opponents during the last day of the tournament.

Game 1: SHU vs. Huntington

Devyne Eisenhauer led the Siena in kills, putting down 13 while picking up 15 digs, one assist, and one ace. Claire VanDyke led the tea in digs boasting a total of 19. While both Olivia Norman (11) and Kinsey Wagner (10) reached double digits for kills. Aubrey Bates rounded up 43 assists during the first five sets of the day.

After dropping the first set, SHU rebounded winning two of the next three sets to send the match into a fifth set. The Saints remained close to the Foresters in the last set only to fall by four points, leaving the score at 15-11.

Game 2: SHU vs. Grace

Leading Siena in the second match of the day was Taylor Wegener who tallied 19 kills, 17 digs, and one ace. Devyne Eisenhauer followed holding 12 kills, 23 digs, and one assist. Olivia Norman held three of the Saint's four blocks during game two while contributing seven kills. Setter Aubrey Bates collected 15 digs, six kills, one ace, and 49 assists, for a total of 92 assists for the day.

Starting strong SHU took set one after jumping into a quick lead that lasted the rest of the set. The second set was a battle as the score reached 28-26, unfortunately not in Siena's favor. Quick to recover the Saints took the third with an impressive showing from the team during Payton Osborne's serving rotations. Sadly the energy did not last and Siena dropped both the fourth and fifth sets.

The Saints host Spring Arbor on Wednesday, August 31st for the first home game of the season, the first serve is set for 7:00 PM.
