Women's Volleyball Falls to No. 14 Cornerstone

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's volleyball team took on No. 14 Cornerstone in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference contest on Wednesday, and dropped the contest in three sets. Set scores were 25-27, 11-25 and 19-25.

For the Saints, Christine Tylutki and Abby Whitehead each contributed seven kills. Amanda Metz dished out 26 assists while Gabrielle Kalugar led the way with 26 digs. Bianca Negron completed the match with two aces, and Libby Breton finished with a team high, three assisted blocks.

SET ONE: Siena Heights 25, No. 14 Cornerstone 27
Siena Heights (14-2, 4-1 WHAC) opened scoring and traded points with Cornerstone (13-5, 6-0 WHAC) throughout. Late in the set, the Golden Eagles went on a three point run but the Saints were able to answer back and eventually tie the score at 19. Extra points were needed to decide the set and Cornerstone was able to steal the first.

SET TWO: Siena Heights 11, No. 14 Cornerstone 25
Cornerstone opened the second set on a 6-0 run and never looked back. SHU was not able to recover from the early 6-1 deficit.

SET THREE: Siena Heights 19, No. 14 Cornerstone 25
Points were traded until CU knocked down three consecutive points to grab a 13-10 lead. The Saints recovered, bringing the score to 15-14, but did not have enough to overtake the Golden Eagles.

Next up, the Saints will travel to Northwestern Ohio for a WHAC contest on Friday, Sept. 29. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
