Women's Volleyball Sweeps Both Matches in First Day of Siena Heights Tournament

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's volleyball team hosted it's Siena Heights Tournament with St. Ambrose (Iowa), Lawrence Tech, Spring Arbor and Lindenwood-Belleville (ILL.) on Friday through Saturday. On Friday evening, the Saints took on Lindenwood-Belleville and Spring Arbor where they swept both matches to grab a 2-0 start to the tournament.

In game one, the Saints knocked off Lindenwood-Belleville in three sets with scores of 25-15, 25-19 and 25-16. Christine Tylutki led the Saints attack with nine kills while also contributing ten digs and two assisted blocks. Amanda Metz finished with a team high 34 assists and Gabrielle Kalugar completed the match with a team leading, 17 digs. Joining Tylutki with two assisted blocks was Ashleigh Shay.

Game two of the night for SHU ended in a sweep as well with scores of 25-18, 25-19 and 25-20 over Spring Arbor. Paige Hudgin and Libby Breton each finished with ten kills with Tylutki following close behind with nine. Hudgin also contributed a team high, 17 digs. Amanda Metz completed the match with a very strong, 37 assists, 13 digs and a game high five assisted blocks.

The Saints will continue Siena Heights Tournament play on Saturday, Sept. 2, with games at 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. against Lawrence Tech and St. Ambrose, respectively.
