Women's Volleyball Finishes Regular Season with Two Wins

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's volleyball team swept Lawrence Tech 3-0 and defeated Marygrove 3-1, in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference pool play Saturday at Ridler Field House.

In the first match, SHU (21-10, 13-9) was led by Leze Vukaj who had 10 kills.

Carly Tillotson finished the match against LTU with 22 assists and three aces.

Taylor Felver finished with seven digs while Nicole Morgan and Haley Mercy each added six digs for SHU.

For Lawrence Tech (10-28, 7-15), Mary Armstrong led the way with nine kills and a pair of aces. Josie Queary finished with 20 assists while Brittany Schmidt chipped in nine digs.

Against Marygrove, SHU was led by Abby Whitehead with 15 kills and Felver who added 13. Tillotson compiled 47 helpers. Morgan had 25 digs.

For Marygrove (4-26, 2-19), Paige Hughes and Brenna Donnelly led the way with seven kills. Hayley Jury had 15 assists. Amber Staudt and Amber Kelly each chipped in 16 digs.

MATCH ONE
Set one: Siena Heights 25, Lawrence Tech 19
The Saints opened the set with three ties -- 1, 2, and 3 -- before SHU went on an 6-3 run. SHU allowed the Blue Devils to tie the set at 17- and 18-all before the Saints would finish set one on a 7-1 run.

Set two: Siena Heights 25, Lawrence Tech 23
SHU opened set two trading runs with the Blue Devils. The Saints tied the set 12 times, the final tie being at 19-19. Siena Heights went on a 7-3 run to finish set two.

Set three: Siena Heights 25, Lawrence Tech 18
Siena Heights opened the final set trailing LTU 5-2. SHU took went on an 8-1 run. SHU held onto the lead for the match.

 

MATCH TWO
Set one: Siena Heights 25, Marygrove 15
SHU opened set one with a 5-2 run and held the lead.

Set two: Siena Heights 20, Marygrove 25
The Saints opened set two trailing 7-2. SHU took the lead when it went on a 7-2 run. The Mustangs would push five points taking the lead back 20-17, and hold the lead to tie the match at 1-all.

Set three: Siena Heights 25, Marygrove 22
Siena Heights had the lead all set until Marygrove tied it up at 22-all. SHU finished the set with an ace from Mercy.

Set four: Siena Heights 25, Marygrove 15
SHU opened the final set with a 4-0 run and held the lead for the match victory.

Siena Heights will head to the WHAC tournament at Lourdes (Ohio) starting on Nov. 13.
