Women's Volleyball Sweeps Concordia and Indiana Tech

ADRIAN, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's volleyball team swept Concordia and Indiana Tech,  3-0 and 3-0, in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference pool play Sunday at SHU Fieldhouse.

In the first match, SHU (18-10, 10-9) was led by Leze Vukaj who had 13 kills.

Carly Tillotson finished the match against CUAA with 27 assists and six kills.

Nicole Morgan and Haley Mercy finished with 12 and 11 digs, respectively. Both had three aces.

For Concordia (17-17, 6-12), Mackenzie Schill led the way with seven kills and a pair of aces. Erica den Boer finished with 15 assists and 13 digs while Julia Szuba chipped in 15 digs.

Against Indiana Tech, SHU was led by Taylor Felver with 12 kills and Ashleigh Shay, who added nine. Tillotson compiled 37 helpers. Morgan had 16 digs.

For Indiana Tech (20-13, 12-7), Cassie Sarabia led the way with 18 kills. Karli Jones had 20 assists and Autumn Stokes chipped in 11. Taylor Kelso had 18 digs.

MATCH ONE
Set one: Siena Heights 25, Concordia 14
The Saints opened the set with six ties -- 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 -- before SHU went on an 12-4 run. SHU finished set one with a 4-0 stretch.

Set two: Siena Heights 25, Concordia 15
SHU opened set two with an 5-0 run during which Morgan had two aces. The Saints tacked on an 8-2 run before the Cardinals went on a 4-1 run. SHU finished the set with a kill by Vukaj.

Set three: Siena Heights 25, Concordia 9
Siena Heights opened the final set with an 11-1 run during which Mercy had two aces. SHU dominated the rest of the set.

 

MATCH TWO
Set one: Siena Heights 25, Indiana Tech 19
SHU opened set one with a 10-4 run and held the lead.

Set two: Siena Heights 25, Indiana Tech 16
The teams opened the set with four early knots at 2-, 4-, 5- and 6-all. SHU broke the 6-6 tie with a 7-1 run. Later in the set, Siena Heights added an 8-1 run. Felver finished set two with a kill for SHU.

Set three: Siena Heights 28, Indiana Tech 26
The Saints went on a 4-2 run to open the final set. The Warriors went on a late 3-0 run, putting them with in one at 14-13. The set had seven late ties starting at 19-all and ending with 26-all. Felver gave SHU the push to the end for the sweep. 

Siena Heights will have their final home match of the season on Wednesday, Nov. 4 at 7 p.m. when Aquinas visits the SHU Fieldhouse.
