Women's Volleyball Tripped Up in Visit to Northwestern Ohio

LIMA, Ohio -- The Siena Heights women's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Northwestern Ohio in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Wednesday.

Leze Vukaj had 17 kills to lead the Saints while Taylor Felver contributed 10 kills.

Also for SHU, Carly Tillotson accumulated 32 assists and Biance Negron smacked four aces. Haley Mercy and Nicole Morgan finished with 14 and 11 digs, respecitvely.

For UNOH (8-16, 4-8), Nora Fa'atiga led the way with 14 kills while Leah Hofmann and Calley Hawkins chipped in with 13 and 11, respectively. Hawkins also had four total blocks.

Katie Elson totaled 41 assists and four aces. Cierra Anderson had 16 digs and Kelsey Fiely ended with 11 digs.

Set one: Northwestern Ohio 25, Siena Heights 10
The Racers opened the set with a 6-0 run and later tacked on an 8-0 streak to cruise to the set win.

Set two: Northwestern Ohio 26, Siena Heights 24
Using an seven-point run, which included two aces from Negron and four kills by Vukaj, the Saints held an early 7-1 lead. UNOH chipped away at its deficit, eventually tying the contest at 18-18. The set involved five more knots -- 19, 20, 22, 23 and 24 -- before the Racers scored two straight points to end the set.

Set three: Siena Heights 25, Northwestern Ohio 19
SHU scored the first four points and led the entire way. The Racers closed their deficit to 4-3, but that was as close as the hosts would get.

Set four: Northwestern Ohio 25, Siena Heights 17
A 6-1 UNOH run helped the host Racers take command early and hold that lead the rest of the way.

The Saints will return to action on Friday with a 7 p.m. non-conference match against cross-town rival Adrian.
