Women's Volleyball swept by #15 Madonna

Adrian, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's volleyball team suffered a 3-0 loss during the "Teal Attack" match against 15th-ranked Madonna in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference action on Wednesday. 

Leze Vukaj had eight kills and three total blocks and Ashleigh Shay added seven kills for the Saints, who lost by set scores of 25-21, 25-12, 25-21. 

Carly Tillotson compiled 24 assists, two aces and seven digs while Nicole Morgan ended with 15 digs and one ace. Abby Whitehead contributed six kills and two total blocks. 

The teams battled through 11 ties, including a 14-14 knot, before Madonna outscored Siena Heights, 11-7, the rest of the way.

The Crusaders (15-3, 6-0) took an early lead in the second half and cruised to a 2-0 match lead, outhitting the Saints .500 to .062.

In set three, the Saints hung around early before MU scored six straight points to build its largest lead of the set at 14-6. The Saints pulled back within two points at 22-20 before Madonna scored 3 of 4 points to end the match.

Amanda Hawkins, Katie Breault and Nicole Oestrike led the attack for the Crusaders with 12, 10 and nine kills, respectively. Spencer Stokes compiled 39 assists. Breanna Geile finished the night with 14 digs. 

The Saints (6-4, 3-3) will be in action again on Friday, Sept. 25, when they host Concordia at 7 p.m.
