ADRIAN, Mich. -- Abby Whitehead finished with 13 kills as the Siena Heights women's volleyball team claimed a 3-0 sweep over 13th-ranked Davenport in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference opener at the SHU Fieldhouse on Wednesday.

Carly Tillotson compiled a solid linescore, totaling six kills, 25 assists, six digs and three aces. Leze Vukaj added seven kills while Haley Mercy and Nicole Morgan had 15 and nine digs, respectively, for the Saints (4-1, 1-0).

With the win, SHU snapped a 12-match losing streak to Davenport, dating back to 2007. The Saints' last win over DU occurred on Oct. 5, 2006.

Siena Heights took command early and enjoyed an 8-3 run in the first set, holding a comfortable lead most of the way. In the secon, the Saints opened with a 3-0 stretch and held that advantage to a 2-0 match lead.

In the third set, the Panthers (3-6, 0-1) snagged their first lead of the night at 6-5 and eventually used a 5-0 run to go up 13-10 before SHU answered with a five-point stretch of its own.

Whitehead's final kill of the evening broke a 22-all tie in the third set, giving SHU the lead for good. The match ended on a combined block by Vukaj and Taylor Felver.

Marcey DeHaan had eight kills to lead DU. Krissy Dill put down seven kills. Also, Sami White made 23 assists while Morgan Torres and Kasey Stehouwer had 12 and 10 digs, respectively.

The Saints will play their next match on Wednesday, Sept. 9, when Northwestern Ohio visits the SHU Fieldhouse for a 7 p.m. start.
