SHU Women's Volleyball Equals Comeback Kids for Second Straight Match

ADRIAN, Mich. -- For the second consecutive match, the Siena Heights women's volleyball team clawed back from a two-set deficit to claim a 3-2 victory -- this time defeating Lourdes (Ohio) in a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference match at the SHU Fieldhouse on Friday.

Halie Baker had 17 kills while Julia Haupricht and Mckenzie Wright contributed 12 kills apiece for the Saints (13-10), who dropped the first two sets, 26-24, 26-24, before winning the final three, 27-25, 25-20, 15-13.

Lauren Baker and Carly Tillotson had 24 and 22 assists, respectively. Nicole Morgan added 19 digs, Tillotson contributed 16 digs, and Haley Mercy came through with 14 digs.

The first three sets had nine tie scores each. In the third, SHU faced match point at 25-24 before battling back for three straight points.

A total of 10 ties featured the fourth set. The final knot came at 17-all during a stretch in which the Saints outscored their visitors, 11-3, courtesy of seven Lourdes attack errors.

The Saints took command in the fifth set with eight straight points, turning a 5-2 deficit into a 10-5 lead. LU nearly stormed back, getting six straight points itself to pull within 13-12, but SHU ultimately held on.

Siena Heights will return to action with another WHAC home match on Wednesday when Cornerstone visits for a 7 p.m. start.
