ADRIAN, Mich. -- Four Saints won individual championships, including a trio of Siena Heights women who did so while recording personal-best NAIA automatic-qualifying times during the conference outdoor track and field championships on Thursday and Friday at O'Laughlin Stadium.
Margherita Conrad won the pole vault while hurdlers Faith Jackson and Linnearia Richards swept the 100- and 400-meter hurdle events for the Saints as all three registered auto performanes. Emma Valentine won the high jump with a provisional height.
Conrad's height of 3.95 meters (12 feet, 11 1/2 inches) was an NAIA-best height and helped her earn co-honors of Most Outstanding Performer. It was an improvement of 0.05 meters.
Jackson blew away her previous season-best time in the 100 hurdles with a clock-in of 14.09 meters. Her previous-fastest time was 14.42.
Richards shaved almost three seconds off her previous-fastest time in the 400 hurdles, hitting the line in 1:02.87. Her previous time was 1:05.43.
Valentine cleared 1.65 meters (5-5), equaling her previous season-best.
As a team, the Saints finished fourth of 10 teams with 128 points. Indiana Tech won the team championship with 199.
