FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- Siena Heights freshman Emma Valentine won the women's high jump crown during Friday's day-one competition at the WHAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Indiana Tech.

Valentine cleared 1.70 meters (5 feet, 7 inches), an NAIA automatic-qualifying height and an improvement of 0.03m over her previous-best.

Morgan Lutton added a fourth-place finish in the high jump, clearing 1.59m (5-2 1/4).

SHU's pole vaulters finished 2-3-4-5-7 at the meet.

The first four hit auto heights, although none recorded season-highs. Tyler Fugate was runner-up at 3.82m (12-6 1/4) while Erica Albrecht, Samantha Nowell and Margherita Conrad finished 3-4-5 -- all with a top height of 3.62m (11-0 1/2).

Chasity Mies was seventh at 3.42m (11-2 1/4), a provisional height. She already has an auto ticket.

Xochitl Garcia ran to third place in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:04.08.

Erin Gotha placed fifth in the weight throw with a distance of 14.66m (48-1 1/4).

The WHAC Indoor Championships will wrap up Saturday at Indiana Tech.

After one day, SHU is in second place with 58.5 points. It trails only Indiana Tech (79).
