Fugate wins Pole Vault at Michigan; Nowell Hits Provisional Qualifying Mark

ANN ARBOR, MICH. - On Saturday, nine student-athletes from the Siena Heights women's track and field team traveled to the University of Michigan to compete at the Wolverine Invite. Tyler Fugate won first place in the pole vault with a height of 3.96m (12'.11.75"); this height currently has her ranked first in the nation for pole vault. Samantha Nowell finished fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 3.51m (11'6.25").  In hitting this height, Nowell hit the NAIA B Standard for the national championship meet. First-year athletes Chasity Mies and Margherita Conrad finished fifth and seventh place in pole vault, respectively. Emma Valentina finished fourth in high jump with a height of 1.63m (5'4.25"). Faith Jackson finished fourth in the 60m hurdles, where she ran an 8.82 in the preliminaries to secure her spot in finals. Erin Gotha finished fifth in the weight throw, hitting a distance of 14.20m (46'7.25").

The Saints will return to action on Friday, January 13th at the SVSU Invitational.
