Women's Track and Field Begins Outdoor Season at Bill Bippes Cougar Classic

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Siena Heights women's track and field team began the 2022 outdoor season at the Bill Bippes Cougar Classic hosted by Spring Arbor University on Saturday, April 2, 2022.

Jenna Salek won the 200m with a personal-best time of 26.42. She finished just ahead of teammate Chelsea Short who had a personal-best time of 26.51 for second place. Short won the 400m with a time of 1:00.45. Faith Jackson won the 100m hurdles with a 15.08 mark, a personal best. Samantha Scott cleared the high jump bar at a personal-best height of 1.54m to win the event. Samantha Nowell cleared the pole vault bar at the height of 3.25m to win the event. Tiffani Larder won the long jump in her outdoor debut with a leap of 4.89m while finishing second in the triple jump with a 9.46m mark.

The 4x400 relay team with Chelsea Short, McKenna Russell, Tiffani Larder, and Jenna Salek won the event with a time of 4:10.14. Both 4x800 relay teams finished in the top five as well. The quad of Alexis Cordle, Morgan Turk, Xochitl Garcia, and Emily Monroe won the race with a 10:10.12 time. The other team of Jezra Reyes, Perla Reyes, Isabelle Uganski, and Brooke Hildebrandt was third with a time of 11:08.72.

Xochitl Garcia finished the 5k in second place with a personal-best time of 18:38.84. The 4x100 relay team consisting of Elisa Blackmon-Todd, Jenna Salek, Faith Jackson, and Chelsea Short finished second with 51.31. Brianna Hatfield and Daijah Hill tied for second in the high jump with a 1.49m clearance. Jordan Lumbrezer placed second in the hammer throw with a toss of 38.85m. Lumbrezer also finished fourth in the discus with a best throw of 32.79m and sixth in the shot put with a 10.78m mark.

Elisa Blackmon-Todd was 3rd in the 100m with a time of 12.91. She also earned an eighth-place finish in the 200m with a time of 27.35. Skyler Beals was fourth in the shot put with a heave of 11.68m and fifth in the hammer with a 33.36m throw. Peyton Hansen threw the javelin 28.32m to finish third in the event. Erin Gotha placed third in the hammer throw with a mark of 37.52m.

Morgan Turk was fourth in the 1,500m what a time of 5:20.26. Turk's time was just a bit faster than teammate Brianna Martin who was fifth with a 5:24.86. Brooke Beyer was fourth in the shot put with a throw of 11.21m. Narpreet Singh threw the hammer 35.46m for fourth.

Emily Monroe finished the 800 with a time of 2:34.76 to claim fifth. Isabelle Uganski also had a top-five finish with her 19:05.79 in the 5k.
