Women’s Track and Field Finishes 5th at WHAC Indoor Championships

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Siena Heights women's track and field team totaled 58 points to finish fifth in the team standings of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Championships.

Faith Jackson, Jenna Salek, and the 4x400 relay team consisting of Chelsea Short, Alexis Cordle, McKenna Russell, and Salek were the top performers on day two of the competition with fifth-place finishes in their respective events. Jackson was fifth in the final race of the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.81. Salek was fifth in the 400 with a time of 1:01.32. The 4x400 relay team had a time of 4:15.99 to finish fifth.

Aside from competing in the 4x400 relay team, Russell also competed in the 400-meter run where she placed seventh with a time of 1:02.31. Cordle ran the 600 in 1:45.56 to also finish seventh. Emily Monroe placed seventh in the 1,000m at a time of 3:14.54. The last seventh-place finish for the Saints was from Xochitl Garcia in the 3k with her time of 10:48.98. Tiffani Larder jumped 9.66m in the triple jump to earn eighth.

The conference also released the yearly awards. Madelyn Birmingham, Alexis Cordle, Tyler Fugate, Xochitl Garcia, Brianna Hatfield, Baleigh Irelan, Kaylee Kneemiller, Emily Monroe, Samantha Nowell, Samantha Scott, Mollie Smith, and Morgan Turk all earned WHAC All-Academic awards. Madelyn Birmingham was the SHU representative on the WHAC Champions of Character team.
