Saints Women's Track and Field Finish First in WHAC vs. MIAA Challenge

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's track and field team finished the WHAC vs. MIAA Challenge in first place with 112 team points. Two Saints set A-Standard marks in their respective events, while five other student-athletes set personal records (PR) in their events.

SHU finished 29.5 points ahead of second-place Indiana Tech (82.50) to win the meet. Hope totaled 70.50 to claim third while Aquinas had 69.50 for fourth. Madonna was fifth with 69, four points better than Albion in sixth. Alma was seventh with 56 points, while Cornerstone (34.50) and Cleary (2) rounded out the team standings.

Faith Jackson set an A-Standard time in the 60 hurdles with 8.91 to finish second place in the race. Jackson also had a second-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.98 and a fourth-place spot in the 200m as she crossed the finish line at 26.94. Samantha Nowell also cleared the pole vault bar at an A-Standard height of 3.52m.

Xochitl Garcia and Alexis Cordle each won their events. Garcia won both the mile run and the 3k. Her winning-mile time was 5:32.78, and her 3k was 11:07.20. Cordle won the 600m with a time of 1:46.28.

Jenna Salek was a second-place finisher in the 400m with a time of 1:01.99. Salek also had a third-place result in the 200m with a time of 26.78. Emily Monroe finished the 1k in 3:22.73 for second place. She also finished third in the mile with a 5:41.80.

Perla Reyes set a PR in the 1k with a 3:34.96 time, earning her fourth. Morgan Turk was fourth in the mile with a 5:43.94. Turk also set a PR in the 3k with an 11:46.91, good for sixth. Daiha Hill cleared the bar in the high jump at 1.60m to place fourth. Skyler Beals threw the shot put a career-high length of 11.89m for fourth in the event.

Chelsea Short (200m, 27.16) and Isabelle Uganski (3k, 11:44.36) finished fifth in their races. Uganski also had a sixth-place showing in the mile with a time of 5:50.45.

Elisa Blackmon-Tood achieved a PR in the 200m with 27.23 (6th place). Brooke Beyer was the final Saint to earn a PR. Beyer tossed the weight 13.46m to finish eighth and set her career-high.
