Tyler Fugate Breaks School Record in Pole Vault as Saint Women Earn Three A-Standards to Kick-Off indoor Season

SAGINAW, Mich. -- Tyler Fugate broke the indoor pole vault record with her 3.97m (13'0.25") height as she won the event at the Saginaw Valley State Holiday Open and Multis on Saturday. Fugate's mark in the pole vault was also an A-Standard mark.

Samantha Nowell finished behind Fugate in the pole vault with a 3.57m (11'8.5") mark, also an A-Standard. Morgan Turk finished second in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 11:59.09. Turk was also seventh in the mile run with a time of 5:41.30. Linnearia Richards and Brianna Hatfield tied for second in the high jump with a height of 1.54m (5'05"). Richards also recorded a seventh-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.42.

Faith Jackson crossed the finish line in 60-meter hurdles in 8.82 seconds to place third, an A-Standard. However, Jackson ran the 60-meter run in 7.96 seconds to finish 10th. 

The 4x400 relay team consisting of Chelsea Short, Linnearia Richards, McKenna Russell, and Elissa Blackmon finished fourth with a time of 4:11.28.

Samantha Scoot cleared the bar at 1.44m (4'8.75") in the high jump event to claim fifth in the event. Alexis Cordle had a fifth-place finish in the 600-meter run with a time of 1:48.54.

Jenna Salek (400m, 7th, 1:00.77), Chelsea Short (400m, 8th, 1:01.08), Tiffani Larder (long jump, 9th, 5.11m [16'9.25"]), Skyler Beals (shot put, 9th, 11.46m [37'7.25"]), and Xochitl Garcia (5k, 10th, 18:45.13) all finished in the top-10 in their events.

The Saints will compete again in Saginaw Valley State next year, on January 14, in the SVSU Invitational.
