Women's Track and Field Finishes 4th at WHAC Indoor Championship; 13 Saints Earn WHAC Awards

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's indoor track and field team finished fourth at the WHAC Indoor Championship meet over the weekend. Emily Monroe highlighted the Saints outing with a win in the 1,000-meter and a fourth-place finish in the mile. Her winning time in the 1k was 3:12.05 and it earned her a spot on the All-WHAC first-team.

Alexis Cordle finished second in the 600-meter run to earn All-WHAC second-team. Her time in the event was 1:45.25. Tyler Fugate also earned second-team All-WHAC with her finish in the pole vault. She cleared the bar at 3.72m for her placing. Manon Lutzke was third in the shot put with a toss of 10.85m. That put her on the All-WHAC honorable mention.

OTHER NOTABLE FINISHES

Mehgan Godfrey finished just outside All-WHAC placing with a fourth-place finish in the triple jump with a leap of 10.49m. Samantha Nowell came in fourth in the pole vault clearing 3.27m in her first attempt. Both the 4x400 (Chelsea Short, Stephanie Reed, Alexis Cordle, McKenna Russell) and the 4x800 (Alexis Cordle, Baleigh Irelan, Harneet Singh, Emily Monroe) finished fifth in their races. The 4x400 team had a time of 4:16.55 while the 4x800 finished at 10:39.32.

WHAC ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

Eight members of the Siena Heights women's track and field team were named to the WHAC All-Academic team: Madelyn Birmingham, Julia Forbes, Jaymz Gibson, Madisyn Kleinschmit, Mollie Smith, Morgan Turk, Rachel Wiltse.

CHAMPIONS OF CHARACTER

Abigail Bansen was the SHU representative on the Champions of Character Team.
