Women's Track and Field Finishes Third at Aquinas Saints Challenge

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's track and field team finished the Aquinas Saints Challenge with 94 points to claim third place in the team standings. The Saints 4x400 relay team consisting of Chelsea Short, Stephanie Reed, Alexis Cordle, McKenna Russell won the event with a time of 4:19.42. It was the only event won by the Saints on the day.

OTHER TOP 5 FINISHES

Alexis Cordle finished second in the 600m with a time of 1:46.60. Tyler Fugate cleared the pole vault bar at a height of 3.42m to claim second in the pole vault event. Mehgan Godfrey was the final SHU student-athlete to finish second as she had a leap of 10.58m in the triple jump. She also finished third in the long jump with a jump of 4.86m.

Xochitl Garcia achieved third in the mile with a time of 5:46.75. Samantha Nowell completed the pole vault with a height of 3.27m to claim third in the event. Manon Lutze recorded a fourth-place finish in the weight throw with a heave of 13.39m. Lutzke also finished fifth in the shot put with a toss of 10.70m.

Kierra Rice claimed fifth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.29. McKenna Russell had two fifth-place finishes. The first was in the 60m hurdles (8.29); the second was the 200m with a time of 27.61 Samantha Scott was the final top-5 finisher for SHU. She had a jump of 1.50m in the long drive. 

The Saints are scheduled to compete in the GVSU Big Meet next Friday and Saturday, February 12 and 13.
