Saints Women's Indoor Track and Field Debuts at Saginaw Valley State

SAGINAW, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's indoor track and field team opened the 2021 season at the Saginaw Valley State Invitational on Friday afternoon. Samantha Scott, Tyler Fugate, and Mehgan Godfrey all won their events for the Saints.

Scott won the high jump by clearing the bar at 1.54m. Fugate finished atop the pole vault standings with a height of 3.52m and Godfrey won the triple jump with a leap of 10.15m. She also finished third in the long jump with a mark of 4.80m. 

OTHER TOP 5 FINISHES

• Baleigh Ireland earned second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.20 seconds.

• The 4x400 relay team consisting of Alexis Cordle, Irelan, McKenna Russell, and Chelsea Short finished in second place with a time of 4:30.85.

McKenna Russell tallied a second-place finish in both the 400-meter and 200-meter runs. She finished 1:03.08 in the 400 and 27.99 in the 200.

Emily Monroe was another second-place finisher. She finished the 800-meter run in 2:32.07.

Brianna Hatfield cleared the high jump bar at 1.49m for second place.

Samantha Nowell registered a mark of 3.27m in the pole vault to receive second place. 

• The 4x400 relay team of Brianna Martin, Rachel Wiltse, Isabelle Uganski, and Emily Monroe was third in the event with a 4:57.82 finish. 

Kaylee Kneemiller finished third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.00 and fourth in the 200-meter run with a 29.29 mark.

Alexis Cordle tallied two third-place finishes. The first in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:02.40 and the 200-meter run with a time of 29.00.

Rachel Wiltse earned a third-place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:40.43.

Mollie Smith was third in the pole vault with a height of 2.82m.

Abigail Bansen finished third in the triple jump (9.58m) and fourth in the long jump (4.24m).

Chelsea Short had a fourth-place finish (400m, 1:00.10) and a fifth-place finish (200m, 29.53).

Brianna Martin tallied fourth in the 400-meter run with a time of 2:47.95.

Isabelle Uganski finished just after Martin in the 400-meter run with a time of 2:52.46 for fifth. 

• Mehgan Hall registered a mark of 2.67m in the pole vault for fifth in the event.

Erin Gotha finished fifth in both the shot put (10.75m) and the weight throw (12.49m) to finish off the top-five finishes for the Saints

The Saints will return to action on Saturday, January 30 at the Aquinas Jamboree 1 in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
