Women's Indoor Track and Field Competes at Hillsdale Wide Track Open

HILLSDALE, Mich. -- The 13th-ranked women's indoor track and field team competed at the annual Hillsdale Wide Track Open on Friday and Saturday, February 7-8. Asia Gardner (Westland, Mich.) led the Saints with a third-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.69. She also finished fifth in the 200-meter run with an A-Standard time of 25.42. This time ranks her third in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) and seventh in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

Kira Harris (Royal Oak, Mich.) placed second in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:02.67. Xochitl Garcia (Bronson, Mich.) was second in the 3K with a finish of 11:04.96. Kierra Rice (Westland, Mich.) was second in the 60 hurdles, finishing 8.83. She also was eighth in the 200 with a time of 26.46. Stephanie Reed (Bay City, Mich.) cleared the high jump bar at a height of 1.62m (5-3.75) to place second in the event. Julia Forbes (Hopkins, Mich.) finished second in the long jump with a leap of 5.38m (17-8). She also placed sixth in the triple jump (10.59m) and seventh in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.86.

Delaney Stersic (Adrian, Mich.) was third in the 400m with a time of 58.80. The 4x400 relay team consisting of Gardner, Alexis Cordle, Chelsea Short, and Stersic placed third in the race with a finish of 4:03.70. Jaymz Gibson (Britton, Mich.) cleared the bar at 3.57m (11-8.5) in the pole vault to place third in the event. Short was fourth in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:00.65 and seventh in the 200m with a 26.44-second finish. Tyler Fugate (Tecumseh, Mich.) was fifth in the pole vault by making it over the bar at 3.42m (11-2.5).
