Ninth-Ranked Women's Track and Field Adds Two New A-Standards and one B-Standard at IWU

MARION, IND. -- The 9th-ranked Saint women's indoor track and field team had a good showing this weekend at the Indiana Wesleyan Midwest Classic.

Delaney Stersic was one of two new additions to the list of auto-qualifiers for the Saints with her 58.27 finish in the 400-meter that won her the event propelled her to the fastest time in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) and 10th in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA).

Stephanie Reed was the other new auto qualifier in the high jump. She cleared the bar at 1.68m (5' 6") to win the event at IWU. This mark also ties her for second-best in the conference and eighth in the NAIA.

Asia Gardner hit an A-Standard time in the 60 meters with a 7.71 to win the event. She is currently second in the WHAC and eighth in the NAIA in the 60m with her finish earlier this season at the Saginaw Valley State University Holiday Classic. Gardner also finished second in the 200-meter run at Indiana Wesleyan with a time of 26.25.

Kierra Rice won the 60 hurdles with a time of 58.27 (A-Standard). She placed fifth in the 60 meters and the 200-meter. Rice leads the NAIA in the 60 hurdles with her finish at the Larry Cole Invitational last week.

Julia Forbes won the long jump with a leap of 5.33m (17' 6") and the triple jump with a mark of 1073m (35' 2.5"). She is currently third in the WHAC and fifth in the NAIA in the long jump. She also finished behind Gardner in the 60 meters with a time of 7.78 which is a B-Standard. That finish has her sitting fifth in the WHAC and 17th in the NAIA.

Tyler Fugate cleared the pole vault bar at 3.42m (11' 2.5") to place second at IWU. She is fourth in the WHAC and 15th in the NAIA from her leap at the SVSU Holiday Classic.

Chelsea Short placed third in the 400m with a time of 1:00.65 and eighth in the 200m with a time of 26.92. Xochitl Garcia was third in the 5k with a time of 19:13.89. That mark has her 10th in the WHAC. Brianna Martin also placed top-10 in the 5k with a finish of 19:40.13 which was good for sixth.
