SHU Women's Track and Field Finishes 2nd at WHAC Championships

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's track and field team finished second in the team standings with 199.33 points in the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) outdoor championships. Six Saints won events to achieve first-team All-WHAC.

Asia Gardner finished first in the 100-meter dash with a B-standard time of 12.06 to earn a place on the All-WHAC first team. She also earned honorable mention All-WHAC in the 200m with a third-place finish with a time of 24.83 (B-Standard). Delaney Stersic earned a spot on the first-team with a win in the 400-meter run with an A-standard time of 56.37. Haley Hudson won the shot put with a heave of 14.19m (46' 6.75"). That was an A-standard throw and earned her a spot on the All-WHAC first team. Tina Miller finished first in the discus with a toss of 99.99m (131' 2"), an A-standard. Rachel O'Neill won the hammer (48.94m [160' 7"]) and was third in the shot put (12.62m [41' 5"]) to earn first team and honorable mention All-WHAC. Jaymz Gibson finished up the group of SHU first-place finishers with a throw in the javelin of 34.54m (113' 4"). She also finished second in the pole vault by clearing the bar at 3.35m (10' 11.75").

Kierra Rice finished second in the 100 hurdles with an A-standard time of 14.13 to be on the second team All-WHAC roster. The 4x100 relay team consisting of Madisyn Kleinschmit, Mildrenae Young-Brooks, Emily Hill, and Gardner won second place with a time of 47.37, an A-standard. The 4x400 relay team of Young-Brooks, Casie Nadasky, Gardner, and Stersic also finished second with a 3:58.11 finish. Courtney Taylor was second in the hammer (45.62m [149' 8"]) and Christine Tylutki finished second in the javelin (32.31m [106' 0"]) to earn spots on the second team All-WHAC.

Julia Forbes was honorable mention All-WHAC with a third-place finish in the long jump with a mark of 5.71m (18' 9"). Sharmaine Wills was third in the javelin with a launch of 31.58m (103' 7") to finish off the top-three finishers for Siena Heights.
