SHU Women's Throwers Compete at GVSU and Defiance While Teammates Compete at 2019 SPIRE Midwest Open

The Siena Heights women's indoor track and field team throwers competed at the Grand Valley State University Open on Friday, January 25 and the Defiance College Invitational on Saturday, January 26 while the rest of the team were at the 2019 SPIRE Midwest Open on Saturday.

Haley Hudson highlighted the weekend for the ladies with wins in the shot put at both GVSU and Defiance. On Friday, she won the event with a heave of 13.74m (45' 1") before winning the next day at Defiance with a 13.81m (45' 3.75") launch.

Courtney Taylor finished 3rd with a throw of 11.60m (38' 0.75"),

Rachel O'Neill won the weight throw with a 15.24m (50') throw. She added a 4th place finish in the shot put as she finished with a throw of 11.55m (37' 10.75").

Manon Lutzke registered 7th in the shot put with a 10.85m (33' 7.25") throw.

Asia Gardner was one of two SHU winners at the 2019 SPIRE Midwest Open as she won the 200-meter run with an auto-qualifying time of 25.19. She added a second-place final in the 60-meter with an auto time of 7.70.

Julia Forbes was the other winner at SPIRE with a jump of 5.35m (17' 6.75") in the long jump event. She also had a 6th-place finish in the triple jump with a best jump of 10.32m (33' 10.25").

Mildrenae Young-Brooks had two-second place results, one in each track and field. Her top-two track finish came in the 60-meter hurdles with an auto time of 8.87; her field event was the long jump in which she had a 5.27m (17' 3.5") jump.

Hannah Cain was second in the pole vault by clearing the bar set at 3.52m (11' 6.5"), an auto-qualifying mark.
