Tasha McKinley Named National Champion at 2018 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships - Day 2

PITTSBURGH, Kan. – Tasha McKinley the National Champion title in the pole vault to lead the Siena Heights women's track and field team in the second day of action at the 2018 NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships, Friday.

Tasha McKinley cleared the bar at 3.85 meters and won via tiebreaker over Abigal Collingham from Hastings. Sheila McKinley vaulted 3.80 meters to earn third place.

In the 400m dash, Alexis Moore ran a career best 56.99 seconds to earn a spot in the finals as the No. 7 seed. This time is also another SHU record for the indoor 400m dash.

Asia Gardner won her heat in the 60m dash with a time of 7.66 seconds, earning a spot in the finals as the fourth seed. Gardner also claimed a spot in the 200m finals as the sixth seed with a preliminary time of 24.86 seconds.

On Thursday, the Saints 4x400m relay team ran a Siena Heights record time of 3:52.91 in the preliminaries. This was good enough to earn runners Brianna Pekel, Delaney Stersic, Megan Rosales and Alexis Moore the No. 5 seed heading into the finals.

As a team, Siena Heights sits in fourth place with 16 total points as Hastings currently leads with 30 points. The Saints will compete in six events tomorrow, Saturday, March 3.
