Four Women's T&F Athletes Qualify for Nationals at the Spartan Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. – The Siena Heights women's track and field team competed in the 2017 Auto Owners Spartan Invitation over the weekend. The women had 13 top three finishes, one provisional and four automatic qualifying performances.

Alexis Moore had a provisional qualifying time of 57.21 seconds in the 400 meter dash, claiming first place.

The 4x400 meter relay team consisting of Mariah Ridal, Ashley Russo, Emily Hill and Moore took second with a time of 4:06.62.

Claiming first place with an automatic qualifying time of 47.48 seconds was the 4x100 meter relay team consisting of Mildrenae Young-Brooks, Julia Forbes, Moore and Asia Gardner.

The Saints claimed two spots in the top three in the 100 meter dash. Gardner took second with a time of 12.28 seconds followed by Young-Brooks with a time of 12.56 seconds.

Gardner also took third place in the long jump with a distance of 5.18m.

Tina Miller claimed second place in the javelin throw, throwing 36.22m followed by third place finisher Kennedi Kane who threw 25.00m.

Sheila McKinley and Tasha McKinley tied with second place finishes in the pole vault.  Both of the Saints had an automatic qualifying height of 3.63m.

In triple jump, Charlena Williams finished second with a distance of 11.27m.

The women's high jumpers claimed the first and second place spots. Marissa Johnson took first place clearing the bar with an automatic qualifying height of 1.68m. Morgan Kulwicki tied for second with a clearing of 1.55m.

As a team, the Saints next meet will be the Don Klienow Invational hosted by SHU on Thursday, April 13.
