Women's Track and Field Compete in Hillsdale "Wide-Track" Classic

HILLSDALE, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's finished eighth at the Hillsdale "Wide-Track" Classic, on Friday and Saturday. SHU ended with five automatic-qualifying and three provisional qualifying performances.

Winning the meet with 108.5 points was Grand Valley State. The Saints took eighth with 55 points. Other WHAC schools competing included Indiana Tech, Davenport and Concordia.  

In the preliminary round, Asia Gardner ran an automatic qualifying time of 7.69 seconds, finishing ninth in the finals at 7.75 seconds. Gardner ran another automatic-qualifying time of 25.39 seconds in the 200m dash.

Alexis Moore ran a provisional-qualifying time of 59.01 seconds in the 400m run.

With a provisional-qualifying time of 18:26.73, Ashley Russo took third in the 5000 meter run.

In the 600m run, Brianna Pekel crossed the finish line in 1:41.63 to earn second place.

The Saints took 10th in the 4x400 meter relay with a provvisional-time of 4:03.49. The team consisted of Emily Hill, Mariah Ridal, Moore and Pekel.

Sheila McKinley tied for third in the pole vault with an auto-height of 3.60m (11 feet, 9 3/4 inches).

In the triple jump, Mildrenae Young-Brooks finished sixth with an auto-distance of 11.37 meters (37-3 3/4).

Ashley O'Neill threw an automatic-distance of 17.34m (56 feet, 10 3/4 inches) to earn seventh place.
