Women's Track and Field Finish 2016 with Five First Place Performances

FINDLAY, Ohio -- The Siena Heights earned five first place performances and NAIA-automatic qualifying performances along with two provisional performances at the Oiler Opener hosted by Findlay (Ohio) on Friday and Saturday.

In the high jump, Marissa Johnson took first place clearing the bar at an automatic-qualifying heights of 5 feet, 6.5 inches (1.69m).

With two auto-qualifying heights both Sheila McKinley and Tasha McKinley took first and second in the pole vault, Sheila winning the tie-breaker for first after both cleared heights of of 12 feet, 1.5 inches (3.70m).

Brianna Pekel earned first place in the 600m run, crossing the finish line in 1:41.45.

Also taking first place for the Saints was Mariah Ridal after running a 5:23.80 in the one mile run.

Earning first and second for SHU was Hannah Shellenbarger and Ridal finishing in 2:28.76 and 2:32.37, respectively, in the 800 meter run.

Asia Gardner again ran an automatic-qualifying time in the 60 meter dash and a provisional time in the 200 meter dash. Gardner took second in the 60m with a time of 7.72 seconds. She dropped one place and finished third in the 200m in 25.85 seconds.

Ashley O'Neill threw for an automatic-qualifying distance of 54 feet, 11.25 inches (16.74m) in the weight throw, earning seventh place.

In the women's triple jump Mildrenae Young-Brooks finished third with a provisional distance of 36-3.5 (11.06m). Earning fifth was Charlena Williams, going 35 feet, 3.75 inches (10.76m).

Finishing fifth in the 400m dash for the Saints was Alexis Moore, crossing the finish line in 1:01.06.

The Saints will be back in action on Saturday, January 7, 2017, for the Hillsdale Invitational.
