Renshaw Breaks NAIA Record on Day Two of Indoor Nationals

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. -- Weight throw champion Kasey Renshaw broke an NAIA record for her efforts at the 2016 NAIA Indoor Track & Field National Championships, on Friday. Renshaw and five other Saints earned NAIA All-American honors for their performances.

Renshaw threw an amazing 69-6.5 (21.20m) in the weight throw to claim first place. Rebecca Cousineau took third place with a toss of 60-8 (18.49m).

Madison Pierce finished second overall in the long jump with a distance of 18 feet, 7 inches (5.66m).

In the pole vault, Tasha McKinley was the top-finisher for the Saints in fourth place, clearing a season PR of 12-4.5 (3.77m). Finishing in sixth and eighth place was Sheila McKinley and Pierce, respectively. Both cleared the vault at 11-10.5 (3.67m), gaining their position via tie-breaker. 

Stephanie Marquardt placed first in her heat of 60m hurdles with a time of 8.52 seconds, for a new PR. She holds the top time heading into the finals, which will be held tomorrow, Saturday.

In the 200m dash, Jalesia Johnson finished 13 in 25.35 seconds.

Heading into the final day of competition, the Siena Heights women hold a seven-point lead over Doane. Through six events scored, Siena Heights has tallied 33 total points with Doane picking up 26. Concordia is third with 15.

The Saints will be back in action for the preliminary and finals that will take place for the following field events: triple jump, shot put and high jump.
