#3 Women's Track & Field takes Second at WHAC Championships

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Siena Heights women's track and field team took second of six schools in the WHAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday. The Saints finished with five first place performances and five improvements on automatic or provisional qualifying marks.

With a first place time of 8.55 seconds, Stephanie Marquardt flew past her previous season best in the 60m hurdles.

Phoenix Duncan took first in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5 feet, 6 inches (1.68m). Via tiebreaker, fellow Saint Marissa Johnson took second place after clearing the same heights (5-6). In third, Saints' Amber Koprin cleared the bar at 1.65m.

In the pole vault, Tasha McKinley took third, clearing the bar at 12 feet, 2.5 inches (3.72m).

Earning first place and a season-best performance, Kasey Renshaw threw 47-3.75 (14.42m) in the shot put. She was followed be Haley Hudson with a throw of 43-11.25 (14.27m) and in fourth with a new-provisional-qualifying distance of 42-4.75 (12.92m) was Ashley O'Neill.

Renshaw took first place in the weight throw with a toss of 68-2.5 (20.79m). Rebecca Cousineau followed in second with a throw of 57 feet, 3 inches (17.45).

Mildrenae Young-Brooks jumped 38 feet, 0.75 inches in the triple jump for a new season best and first place.

In the long jump, Madison Pierce achieved an auto-qualifying distance of 18 feet, 8.5 inches (5.70 meters) for second place.

In the pole vault, Tasha McKinley took third, clearing the bar at 12 feet, 2.5 inches (3.72m).

Also claiming third was Elaine Johnson in the 3000 meter run. She finished in 10:33.29, missing the provisional time by 0.29 seconds. 

The Siena Heights' 4x400m relay team finished in third with a time of 4:04.50 seconds. 

The Saints who qualified for nationals will be heading to Johnson City, Tenn. to take on other 

As a team, the Saints finished in second with 147 points. They trailed Indiana Tech (182) and were ahead of Aquinas (138), Cornerstone (52), Davenport (28) and Concordia (11).
