Four First Place Performances For Women's Track & Field

UNIVERSITY CENTER, Mich. -- Kasey Renshaw, Madison Pierce, Sheila McKinley and Amber Koprin had first place performances for the Siena Heights women's track and field team at the Saginaw Valley State University Classic, on Friday. As a team, the Saints had eight auto performances and two provisional.

Three Saints landed in the top five in the weight throw. Renshaw threw a distance of 63 feet, 2 inches (19.25 meters), earning first out of 24 competitors. Rebecca Cousineau finished second with a throw of 58-10 (17.93m), improving her auto-qualifying performance. Ashley O'neil threw 53 feet, 1 inch (16.19m) for fourth place. 

Pierce jumped 16-10.5 (5.14m) for first of 13 in the long jump.

Siena Heights took top three the pole vault, S. McKinley took first place of seven performers with an auto-qualifying performance over 12-04.5 (3.77 meters). Pierce vaulted over 11-05.25 (3.49m) while Tasha McKinley vaulted over 10-11.5 (3.34m).

Koprin took the top spot in the high jump, clearing the bar at 5-08 (1.73m), improving her auto performance. Marissa Johnson came in second at 5-6 (1.68m). Phoenix Duncan followed in fourth place, clearing 5-4.25 (1.63m) afer losing a tiebreaker.

Haley Hudson and Renshaw each had auto-qualifying performances in the shot put. Hudson came in second place followed by Renshaw in third with distances of 44-10.75 (13.68m) and 44-09 (13.64m), respectively. Cousineau threw 40 feet, 2.75 inches (12.26 meters) for sixth place.

In the triple jump, Young-Brooks took second place with a distance of 37-3.25 (10.89m). Charlena Williams finished third with a distance of 34 feet, five inches (10.49 meters).

Dominique Taylor finished in fourth place with a time of 9.29 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles.

In the 400 meter dash, three Saints finished in the top ten. In third place, Jalesia Johnson finished with a time of 59.49 seconds. Following in ninth and tenth place were Olivia Dameron and Emily Judd, crossing the finish line at 1:04.71 and 1:06.35, respectively.

The 60 meter dash had two SHU top ten finishers. Taylor came in third of 27 participants with a time of 7.91 seconds, beating fellow Saint Mildrenea Young-Brooks by .01 seconds. Young-Brooks finished in 7.92 seconds. 

Young-Brooks was the top Siena Heights finisher, third, in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.96 seconds, followed by Emily Hill and Taylor. Taylor finished in 26.24 seconds, fifth, while Hill came in ninth of 26 at 27.44 seconds.

Elaine Johnson finished third of 31 participants in the 800 meter run, finishing in 2:26.54. E. Johnson also competed in the 3000 meter run. She finished in eighth place, coming in at 11:11.94.

Three Saints finished in the top ten in the one mile run: Ashley Russo, Mariah Ridal and Lucia Alfaro. Russo finished fourth with a time of 5:23.64. Ridal came in at 5:27.35 in sixth place, followed by Alfaro in eighth place at 5:29.82.

The Saints 4x400 relay team consisting of Ridal, Russo, Hannah Shellengarger and Johnson came in second place against ten different teams with a time of 4:05.33.

Siena Heights will be back in action on Friday at the Aquinas Quad-Meet #2.
